Beef Short Ribs in Tomato, Garlic & Red Wine

Looking for the best way to cook Beef Short Ribs? These melt-in-your-mouth ribs are slow-cooked in a rich tomato, garlic, and red wine sauce for bold, unforgettable flavour with minimal effort. Perfect for Sunday roasts, family dinners, or impressing guests.

Ingredients 

Sauce 

  • 1 litre tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 6 x fresh garlic cloves crushed
  • 2 x brown onions finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 3-4 twigs fresh thyme 

Method 

1. Pre heat oven to 150 degrees Celsius

2. Remove short ribs from fridge 1 hour before cooking. Slice between the bone to get 4 individual short ribs then season with olive oil, salt & pepper

3. Place the short ribs in a dish and cook for 45 minutes 

4. Combine all sauce ingredients in a casserole  

5. Remove short ribs from the oven and place in the casserole dish, put the lid on and cook the short ribs for 4 hours at 135 degrees Celsius 

6. Remove the casserole pot from the oven and rest for 10-15 minutes with the lid off before serving
